For the $12-18 that you’re saving in admission, help out the hungry in Chicago by bringing a donation for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, who will be accepting non-perishable items at food collection sites that will be located on the Michigan Avenue and the Monroe Street sides of the building.

May 11-17 is American Craft Beer Week and to celebrate we are holding the Beerfly Alleyfight. The Beerfly Alleyfight is a new event that will not just pair, but tri-pair, beer, food, and art. Ten Home Brewers will be given basic ingredients to brew a beer for the May 19th event. They will pair it with a food they make (or they have someone make) and then they will be paired with a Chicago artist (could be a writer, a painter, musician, a dancer…)who will interpret the pairing in an ass-kickin’, alleyfight way like you’ve never seen. Artists include Neo-Futurists Diana Slickman, Jay Torrence, and more to come.
Saturday, May 16th from 1PM to 5PM at Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery, 1 E. Grand Ave. @ State, Chicago. Tickets are $30.00 and include food, home brew, and performances.

Monsters of the Midway Criterium

Come on down to Hyde Park this Saturday for the Monsters of the Midway Criterium! There will be thirteen races and over 250 participants in this year’s event. It’s held on the beautiful Midway south of the University of Chicago. Races begin as early as 7:30am and run until about 5pm, with the higher level categories racing in the early afternoon.
Make it a day of it: ride down via the Lakeshore Path, stop by one of the neighborhood’s fantastic bookstores, get a coffee, and come enjoy some free and exciting bicycle racing!

The Chicago Ride Of Silence will gather at the Eternal Flame in Daley Plaza at 6:45 PM and depart at 7 PM.
The 10-mile route will pass the sites of crash victims. Many sites are marked by Ghost Bikes, which are powerful memorials to fallen cyclists. The Ride of Silence is a free ride, hosted in hundreds of cities worldwide, that aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for those who have been killed or injured.
